Ever since my partner put forward the idea, Mondrian and neoplasticism have been inexorably connected to Rufus Shinra in my mind. The neo-plastic aesthetic relies on lines, simple geometric shapes, primary colors, grey, black, and most importantly, white, to represent the world according to the artist's intuition. Mondrian's life, work, and neurosis all remind us of certain qualities of Rufus.
As a side note, the Mondrian Hotel looks like Shinra Company paradise...
