Prince Prints! For sale on Etsy

"Prince Dreams" print series--Rivka Nipper 2012

Original Art prints for sale on Etsy! These are printed on demand on 13x19 glossy photo paper and then cut to size.

After fretting about the cost of high quality printing for quite some time, I finally found a printer who will make my art into posters for rates that don't make my eyes bleed! Who is this exceedingly reasonable and generous patron, you may ask?  I will give you a hint: his last name rhymes with "flipper" and I am getting him something for father's day*.

Anyway, if you like my pretty, pretty prince drawings and you want a poster of one of them to grace your wall, head on over to Terrible Dragons on Etsy and check them out! :)

*Yeah, it's my dad. My dad and his magical super-fancy printer. This business is RIFE WITH SHAMELESS NEPOTISM.

Revolutionary Paper Dolls!

Jointed Paper Doll-- Max Robespierre -- Rivka Nipper 2012

Also for sale at  Terrible Dragons on Etsy!  Look at me shamelessly self-promote! Come on. You know you want a cute small-town-lawyer-turned-politcal-revolutionary with ittybitty glasses and stockings for your cork board. Who doesn't?
__

The Incorruptible has never been so adorable. Tiny Maximillien comes with a multitude of interchangeable props! Watch as he effortlessly snubs his political rivals by balancing a full wine glass without spilling a drop! He can point with great authority at various injustices and demand that they be corrected! He can even take time out of his busy schedule as the defender of liberty to admire a dainty sprig of flora. Enjoy maneuvering your very own public servant and notorious historical figure!

Paper Dolls!

Devious Devil and Sweet Angel Sisters-- Paper Dolls --Rivka Nipper 2012

I realize this blog has been a little sparse lately, for which I apologize. For some reason my ability to sit down and draw things took a vacation, and in the mean time I've been experimenting with other mediums. I've made a lot of tiny hats and polymer clay critters and jewelry, and I've opened an Etsy account so I have somewhere to put it all, but I haven't actually been making too much "serious art", whatever that is.

Anyway, these lovely ladies are for sale at Terrible Dragons on Etsy, if tiny posable cute dollies are your thing. :)

"FauxAnime: Witch Fancy"- Rivka Nipper 2012

"Fleur-de-Star-Squid-Sensei! Who is your super-kawaii friend? Could it be... Princess Lelourieea-von-Hohensvelldt?"

StarSquid-Sensei and Lelourieea-Hime are magical charmwitches who attend the Beautiful Heartstar Academy for Novice Charm Witches. Their job is to banish ghosts with charmmagics. Unfortunately, a rival academy for wicked warulocks is hellbent on summoning all the ghosts, and then using the ghosts to create the Ghost King, who is impossible to banish except with the purest charm magic of all: True Love.

Light-hearted parodies aside, I secretly love Shoujo Anime.

Commission: Golden Lion Lad

"Golden Lion Lad" - Rivka Nipper 2012

A set of watercolor commissions for a friend. I got to draw so many fluffy tails and fluffy feet and fluffy ears and fluffy hair-poofs! Bliss.

Enabling Comments for Anons!

And other such internet folk who wander across my blog.

New art is on the way as we speak. ;)

WIP: "True Blood vs Michael Emerson"

Images © Rivka Nipper 2012

I debated posting these for some time since I plan on gifting them to someone eventually, but since they've been such a time-sink, and since I've been putting so much effort into them, I decided to post a preview of this wacky little project-- if for no other reason than to remind myself that I've actually been accomplishing something in the last few weeks.

Here's the thing: There's been a lot of internet speculation as to whether or not Michael Emerson (Ben from Lost, Finch on Person of Interest, next-door-neighbor Charlie from Ready? OK!, Mr. Hinks from The Practice, etc) will be showing up (along with his wife, Carrie Preston, who plays Arlene) in this upcoming season of TrueBlood. Needless to say, this would be so completely radical as to create incendiaries of my underthings, and for once the entirety of the internet agrees with me.

So I want to do a series of fairly plausible but faintly silly cameos of characters he could play on TrueBlood, including Awkward Suitor, Over-Enthusiastic Merlotte's Waiter, Smitten Blood-Donor, Vampire Temperance League Activist, Ghost-Baby-Sitter, Fairy-Godfather, Chihuahua/Bunny/Hedgehog Shifter, Unlikely Pack-Alpha, and Cordon Bleu Vampire Chef/Restauranteur.

Just throwing those out there.

Okay. *knuckle cracking* Back to work.

(Creating slogans for teetotaling vampires is now my new favorite hobby.)

Poem © Rivka Nipper 2008-2011

A much edited poem about my favorite big bad wolf, my Jazz-Age knave, my poppy-peddaling popinjay, my rakish roué, Mr. Jourdain. Works best if read aloud.

Seven Devils- Rivka Nipper, 2012

"Holy water cannot help you now
A thousand armies couldn't keep me out
I don't want your money
I don't want your crowd
See I have to burn
Your kingdom down"

Inspired by "Seven Devils" off of Florence + the Machine's new album, Ceremonials. The city is based on several photos I took of the Prague sky line. I let myself stay pretty loose on the line work and coloring, despite being particularly obsessive about these things normally, and I'm surprisingly happy with how it turned out.

Ceremonials is one of those albums that inspires very specific cinematic sequences in my mind every time I listen to it. Some day, I hope I can get little cameos like this one drawn for every song.

Mushrooms and Acorns -- Rivka Nipper, 2012

A card for my uncle's friend who is in the hospital. The oak leaves are supposed to be for strength, and the mushrooms are because ... well, both of us love mushrooms.

Acanthus Tattoo Commission - Rivka Nipper, 2012
Angora Cat Tattoo Commission- Rivka Nipper 2012

Here are some basic tattoo designs I've made over the years. The owl prince is currently on my collar bone, and as soon as I'm able, I plan to get the OZ lion on my shoulder. :)

Neoplastic Revolution - Rivka Nipper, 2010

Detail

Rufus Shinra © SquareEnix 1997

Ever since my partner put forward the idea, Mondrian and neoplasticism have been inexorably connected to Rufus Shinra in my mind. The neo-plastic aesthetic relies on lines, simple geometric shapes, primary colors, grey, black, and most importantly, white, to represent the world according to the artist's intuition. Mondrian's life, work, and neurosis all remind us of certain qualities of Rufus.
As a side note, the Mondrian Hotel looks like Shinra Company paradise...
